My Youngest found this luna moth clinging to the wall just outside the kitchen of our rented cabin at the lake.
It's had a hard night! Check out the scratches on its tattered wing - certainly from some hopeful but disappointed bird or bat.
If I had a lovely macro lens, and was a more talented photographer, like my friend from Wildwood, I could've shown you how furry it was, but alas...
Maybe soon, though - I think a new camera might be in my future!
Thank you so much for appreciating my photographs! You know what - I'm thinking of doing a little tutorial about using the manual settings. It's easy to do when you know how - but addictive and leads on to all sorts of other challenges ... which is where I'm at with the whole photography thing. Mind you, if I saw an insect the size of one of these luna moths I would not stick around long enough to take the photographs. I'll leave that to you! And these are great captures, especially the first one with your son's hand to show the scale.

What! What a neat find! And how fun that you might be getting a new camera. What kind? :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never seen one of these! It's very neat! Just like a leaf!
